SOPAC Workshop on Sea and Swell Data : The SOPAC Workshop on Sea and Swell Data was held at Te Atukura, the Government Reception Centre, Rarotonga, Cook Islands from 21 November to 5 December 1989. The
Workshop was part of the wave energy programme being carried out by SOPAC in conjunction with, and sponsored by the Government of Norway. The Workshop was aimed at providing initial training for two nationals each from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Western Samoa. (Unfortunately Vanuatu was unable to attend).

Consultation Workshop on the Development of the Tuvalu National Energy Policy : The first of the three consultation workshops on the development of the National Energy Policy was carried out in Funafuti from 12 to 14 April 2004. The consultation workshop is part of the Pacific Islands Energy Policy and Strategic Action Planning Project (PIEPSAP) activity in Tuvalu. The Tuvalu Government through the Assistant Secretary in Ministry of Works and Energy requested PIEPSAP to provide assistance to Tuvalu in reviewing their National Energy Policy.

Wave energy utilization mission, 5 - 21 November 1984

Assesment of energy potential from marine renewable sources such as OTEC waves and lagoon currents : Proposed in the 2nd Session and intiated in the 11th Session. The Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is being installed in Nauru. In order to assess the renewable energy potential of the offshore areas of Fiji, baseline data is needed to assist in the evaluation of those sites. Objective: To produce baseline data on the inshore waters in Fiji area to assist investigations into the use of various alternative sea water energies as resources of power.
