This Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) has been prepared for the Vanuatu Rural Electrification Project Stage 2 (VREP II). The RPF is a companion document to the VREP II Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) (December 2016).
A household electrical appliances, lights, and end-use survey was undertaken in Nauru in June/July 2015. In total 286 households were surveyed, which constitutes 17% of all households in Nauru.Captured in report are some of the findings as well as a few observations.

The Petroleum and alternative liquid fuels strategies and investment plan (PET-ALT SIP) is delivered at an appropriate time as government strives to underline the importance of good governance, credible and stable policies guided by the newly developed Solomon Islands National Development Strategy 2013–2020 (NDS).
This PET-ALT SIP provides a way forward in meeting one of the 2014 Solomon Islands National Energy Policy (SINEP) goals: Increase the access of safe, affordable and reliable petroleum products and alternative liquid and gaseous fuels.

Executive summary: The Council of Ministers of Vanuatu endorsed the Vanuatu National Energy Roadmap (NERM) in 2013 as the overarching policy framework for developing Vanuatu’s energy sector. The Government of Vanuatu (GoV) undertook the first revision of the NERM between October 2015 and May 2016 to update the roadmap’s goals and targets.
The Government of Vanuatu together with the World Bank implemented the Vanuatu Rural Electrification Project Stage 2 (VREP II) as part of scaling-up access to electricity services in rural areas through the financing of micro- and mini-grid installations. VREP II builds on the Project’sfirst stage (VREP I) which is financing “plug and play” systems for approximately 17,500 rural households, aid posts and community halls. Both VREP I and VREP II are investments under the Scaling Up Renewable Energy in Low Income Countries Program (SREP).
