Papua New Guinea Climate Change (Management) Act 2015

Act No.19 of 2015. Certified on 20 November 2015.

This act was prepared by Papua New Guinea Government. The act was prepared to provide for the regulatory framework to -

a. promote and manage climate compatible development through climate change mitigation and adaptation activities; and

b. implement any relevant obligations of the state under applicable rules of international law and international agreements related to climate change; and

Joint Evaluation of the Paris Declaration Phase 2 - Cook Islands Country Evaluation

The Phase 2 Joint Evaluation of the Paris Declaration: Cook Islands Country Study was conducted by a team of international and national evaluators working under the direction of the National Evaluation Coordinator and Senior Research Policy Advisor of the Aid Management Division, Ministry of Finance and Economic Management, Cook Islands Government. The first phase of the evaluation focused on inputs and early outputs. This second phase of the evaluation focuses on outcomes and results.

National Stocktake Report - National Capacity Self Assessment for Global Environment Management Project

The Cook Islands National Capacity Self Assessment (NCSA) programme was supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office in Samoa. The project evolved from many international declarations and policy statements such as the Agenda 21 and the WSSD Johannesburg Plan of Action and in the case of small islands developing states, the Barbados Programme of Action. The objective of the NCSA stocktaking exercise and stakeholder consultations is to review existing mechanisms and capacities of institutions and stakeholders.

In developing its National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA), nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs) and a strategy for low carbon development, Samoas approach is consistent with the AOSIS groups deep concerns about climate change and its international positions. Samoa is highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

National Greenhouse Gas Abatement Strategy 2008-2018

This report was prepared by Ministry of Natural Resources & environment. Climate change is an issue of major concern to the future economic, social and environmental wellbeing of all Samoans. Initially adaptation was seen as the main priority of national efforts on climate change leading to the Cabinet approval in 2005 of the National Adaptation Programme of Action and its current implementation. In recent years, however, and in spite of Samoa's contribution to global warming being very small, there is growing agreement that climate change mitigation is everyone's responsibility.

Feasibility Study for the Production of Biogas and Organic Fertiliser in the Agriculture & Food Management Sectors in Samoa

This report was prepared by Murray Ward for the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation. The use of biodigesters in Samoa and other Pacific Islands has so far been limited to just small demonstrations, mostly involving piggeries. However, Samoa has abundant potential feedstock resource for biodigesters, so the possibility to produce nationally significant amounts of bioenergy in distributed systems at farms, villages and in plantation estates.
