Development partners are working with the GoT to develop and implement the Tonga Energy Road Map.  The relevant target established as part of the Tonga Energy Road Map is to achieve a 50% reduction in diesel consumption. This is considered technically feasible by 2014/15, through a combination of demand side management (DSM), efficiency improvements (loss reduction) at Tonga Power Limited (TPL) and introducing grid connected renewable energy supply.  However, there are constraints to achieving this target that will need to be managed.

Project paper objective is to support the strengthening of the institutional and regulatory framework of the Tonga Energy Roadmap. Project consist of 2 components:

Tonga Training Needs and Gap Analysis Report produced under the PACTVET Project.

Country Summary Report for Solomon Islands produced under the PACTVET Project.

Kiribati Training Needs Analysis Report.

This report provides a summary of project activities during the first 6 months of Year 1. This report is formatted to include a section on Global Project Setup and Management.

FSM SREEM Project Profile for the PIGGAREP Plus Project.

Official Circular Letter for the Small Energy Projects Programme (SEPP). Calling for project applications to be supported under the SEPP Funding, deadline is 31st May 2015.

The Project aims to reduce the risk to the water lens by effectively managing sanitation in a programmatic
approach by reducing risk to human health and coastal livelihoods.
