Job Description:

According to signed Contract between Subh Solar Power SAE, Sunrise Energy SAE, and Rising Sun Energy SAE (Client) and RCREEE (Consultant) dated on 13.11.2018, RCREEE is responsible for Implementation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan for the Operation Phase for PV Power Plants built by the Client.

In this regard RCREEE will hire an environmental specialist to be in client site (Aswan) to Conduct audits and verification on HSE requirements as per the IFC guidelines.

Besides, the environmental specialist will assist in implementation of RCREEE environmental portfolio of programs and/or projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

2. Conduct audits and verification as per the IFC checklists and guidelines, which should cover the following: 

  • Check the correct implementation of the Client HSE in the client site.
  • Check the personal when performing HSE tasks.
  • Check JSA and risk assessment of for the tasks taken place.
  • Check the safety instructions.
  • Check the investigation, accidents, and near misses if any.
  • Check the Audit work being performed with “permit to work”.
  • Report of non-conformities.
  • Check the PPEs and the correct handling of them.
  • Review the compliance with the Client requirements.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports.

2. Provide technical support to RCREEE’s activities in environment & climate change related events, initiatives and partnerships and handles relevant reporting and briefings on RCREEE projects.

Requirements and Competencies:

1. Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (verbal and written).
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Clear and effective communication that builds relationships in order to mediate common interests. Project management is plus.
  • High level of computer proficiency (in particular PowerPoint and MS Word).
  • Promotes teamwork and cooperation.

2. Experience:

  • Minimum education level is a Degree from a well-recognised University in chemical engineering, environmental engineering or sciences or a related field is preferred.
  • At least five (5) years progressively responsible professional work experience in environmental projects.
  • Has strong knowledge of the OSHA HSE standards and World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Guidelines.
  • Aware of the IFC/World Bank’s Environmental and Social Directives.
  • Strong Knowledge of NAMA, CDM, and climate change and environment assessment, policies, finance, trends and mechanisms
  • The environmental specialist should be aware of different international climate change related agencies and communities such as UNFCCC, COPs…etc. Experience working in a similar organization in the fields of RE is preferred.

3. Competencies:
Required: Certified Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), USA and/ or ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Management System Lead Auditor

Duration of Appointment:

  • The initial appointment will be for 12 months including a 3 months’ probation period.
  • Contract extension will be subject to performance, needs and availability of funds.
