24-26 October 2018- Tunisia: Under its capacity development portfolio, RCREEE in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises, the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) and the Tunisian Utility of Electricity and Gas organized a knowledge exchange mission between Libya and Tunisia. The mission aimed to share best practices of sustainable energy deployment in Tunisia and to reinforce cooperation between the two countries.
The 3-day mission kicked off with a workshop hosted by Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises welcoming the Libyan delegation headed by the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) chairperson of the Board of Directors, Dr. Hamid Sherwali. The delegation consisted of 6 representatives from REAoL financial, technical and policy departments. The workshop covered key factors of sustainable energy success, RE and EE programs, sustainable energy data base and planning studies. RCREEE’s Senior expert Eng. Rim Boukhchina, moderated the workshop and the discussions between the participants on fiscal and financial incentives including the design and operation of the energy transition fund (FTE).
ANME General Director, Mr. Hamdi Harrouch also welcomed the delegation to ANME and presented the Tunisian RE and EE experience, the national sustainable energy strategy, achievement and perspectives. After the workshop and meetings, a field visit was arranged to a wind farm.
The mission opens new cooperation opportunities between Tunisia and Libya linked to the implementation of dedicated sustainable energy regulatory and institutional framework and financial incentives mechanism including RE and EE Fund.
