IRENA announces series of webinars titled “Energy Solutions for Cities of the Future

IRENA has just announced a series of webinars titled “Energy Solutions for Cities of the Future: Enabling the Integration of Low-Temperature Renewable Energy Sources into District Heating and Cooling Systems.”

The first webinar, organised by IRENA in partnership with the Aalborg University, will take place on 20 April 2020 and is entitled “Strategic heating and cooling planning for the integration of low-temperature renewable energy sources in district energy networks: What key success factors?”.

The second and third webinars scheduled for May 2020 will focus on the following topics:

  • Webinar 2: 14 May 2020 - Integration of low-temperature renewable energy sources into existing district energy networks and buildings
  • Webinar 3: 25 May 2020 - Enabling framework conditions, financing and business models

The main objective of the webinars is to inform policy makers at the national and local level about  available options and tools to integrate low-temperature renewable energy sources into district heating and cooling networks. This will take place in the framework of the Global Geothermal Alliance, and will build on the ongoing IRENA work on “Energy Solutions for Cities of the Future.”

Notably, RCREEE has been a member of Global Geothermal Alliance since its launch in COP21 back in 2015.
