Recruitment of a Gender Specialist (Consultant)

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency intends to recruit, under a specific contract, an individual consultant, to provide services as a Gender Specialist.

Interested Consultants must provide CV and relevant information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services, providing the following:

(a) have at least a university degree in social sciences or related fields, with an emphasis on gender, and

  1. At least 5 years post qualification experience in executing gender mainstreaming programmes;
  2. Specific experience in sustainable energy projects in West Africa;
  3. Proven experience in participating in similar donor funded projects (proven experience in working in World Bank projects would be an advantage);

(b) Other required skills and competencies include:

  1. Strong planning, organization and time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks;
  2. Capacity to be a member of a multi-disciplinary team, to provide advice and recommend actions;
  3. Proficiency in preparing and presenting reports;
  4. Proficient communication in oral and written English and French. Knowledge in Portuguese will be an advantage;
  5. Very good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to manage relations with development partners, to work under pressure and handle politically and culturally sensitive issues.
