Report is an overview of the outcome from the regional energy program design workshop held in Nadi between 20 - 24 July 1998 so as to provide summary of regional energy sector priorities that can be considered during the 1998 energy program discussions between New Zealand and SOPAC.
This paper is the result of the discussions held during the Regional Energy Meeting (REM) 2000 and the SOPAC STAR Energy Working Group 2000 meeting which noted the need to provide technical information on "New Energy Technologies" in particular hydrogen fuel, ocean thermal energy conversion and space solar power generation.

Training at OCEANOR in Norway on the use of satellite remote sensing data for study of wave climate. This training attachment was part of extended NORAD assistance to SOPAC's Regional Wave Energy Assessment Program. The attachment was carried out from 30 January -17 February 1995. Under the program OCEANOR, an oceanographic company fromNorway, was hired to study the wave climate for the South Pacific. In Fiji the tidal potential of an inlet in Vanua Levu was investigated.
