UNDP Asia - Pacific Regional Energy Programme for Poverty Reduction (REP-POR) - Pacific Rapid Assesment and Gap Analysis. Draft Final Report

This report was prepared by Herbert Wade and Peter Johnston for UNDP Regional Centre in Bangkok. The purpose of this assignment was to undertake a rapid needs assessment and gap analysis of the fifteen Pacific Island Countries that potentially can participate in the UNDP Asia-Pacific Regional Energy Program for Poverty Reduction (REP-PoR).  Ideally, such a study would involve travel to each country to allow extensive local input and as much discussion in-country as possible.

Pacific Climate Change Finance Assessment Nauru Case Study; Final Report 2013

Funding to support developing countries take action on climate change is projected to increase dramatically in the coming years. However, this increase in opportunities is being matched by an equally dramatic increase in complexity. This range of sources, each with their own set of rules and regulations, is often difficult to navigate, confusing and requires significant investment of a country’s limited resources to access and manage.

Technical Evaluation and Assessment Study of NUC Power Generation and Distribution Systems

The Government of the Republic of Nauru (RON) with support from the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) are in the process of developing an Energy Road Map for the country. 

Following a request from the NUC through the GIZ office in Suva, the Pacific Power Association (PPA) offered to partner with GIZ to assist NUC in carrying out an evaluation of its operations in the power sector. The Terms of Reference for the consultancy work provided by PPA is included in Appendix 1 of this report.

Country Report for Nauru - Technical Analysis of Appliance Markets to Support the Pacific Appliance Labelling and Standards (PALS) Programme

This report was prepared by International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC) and was prepared for the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP). The objective of this study is to analyze the characteristics of major appliance and lighting products and markets in Nauru, in order to inform and support decision-making on the most suitable Standards & Labelling (S&L) strategy for Nauru. According to the Nauru Bureau of Statistics, majority of electrical appliances in Nauru are imported from Australia and Fiji.
