The closing ceremony of the regional workshop to launch the development of the ECOWAS regional green hydrogen strategy and the 2023-2030 and 2032-2050 action plans took place on 21 July 2023 in Niamey in the presence of Mr SEDIKO DOUKA, Commissioner in charge of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalization of the ECOWAS Commission.
The workshop was attended by representatives of ECOWAS member states, the ECOWAS Commission, and its specialized agencies in charge of energy, technical and financial partners (WASCAL, BMBF, GiZ), resource persons, and others.
The opening ceremony of the workshop was chaired by Mr Mahaman Rabiou Balla, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies of Niger, in the presence of Mr Francis SEMPORE, ECREEE´s Executive Director and Mr Bruno KORGO, Regional Coordinator for Renewable Energies and Green Hydrogen at WASCAL.
This activity is a logical follow-up to the adoption of the ECOWAS Green Hydrogen and Strategy Framework on 7 July 2023 in Bissau (Guinea Bissau).
As a reminder, the Green Hydrogen Development Programme in West Africa is led by ECREEE with the support of West African Science Service Centre for Climate and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) and German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
