SACREEE Launches Inaugural 2024 SADC Sustainable Energy Week in Botswana

Gaborone, Botswana – The SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE), in collaboration with Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy (MME), officially launched the 1st Annual SADC Sustainable Energy Week on August 15, 2024. The launch event, held in Gaborone, was officiated by Honourable Lefoko Moagi, Botswana's Minister of Minerals and Energy, marking a pivotal moment in the region's efforts to advance sustainable energy initiatives.

During the launch, Honourable Moagi emphasized the significance of Botswana, the host country of the SADC Secretariat, being chosen to inaugurate this important event. He highlighted the role of the SADC Sustainable Energy Week in addressing the pressing energy challenges within the region and promoting solutions that align with sustainable development goals.

The 2024 SADC Sustainable Energy Week, set to take place from December 2nd to 6th, 2024, will be a week-long event featuring a variety of activities designed to encourage dialogue and collaboration. The program includes high-level presentations, seminars, Business-to-Business meetings, interactive group discussions, panel sessions, and numerous networking opportunities. Additionally, regional and international meetings and exhibitions will provide a platform for showcasing innovations and forming strategic partnerships.

This inaugural event is expected to attract a wide range of participants, including government officials, industry leaders, energy experts, and academics, all focused on driving the sustainable energy agenda forward in the SADC region.
