In anticipation of a surge in electric vehicle (EV) deployment, in 2018, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat convened the Regional Electric Vehicle Working Group as a forum through which governments, worked alongside leading regional and national actors to share experiences, lessons learned and best practices on electric‑vehicle use and performance within the Community. The information and analytics that emerged from the Group served as input for, and provided guidance toward, the development of a Framework Regional Electric Vehicle Strategy (REVS) by the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE).
On 16 June 2020, the Caribbean Renewable Energy Community (CAREC) Platform will host a webinar, organized by the CARICOM Secretariat and the CCREEE, on the topic “Innovation, Opportunities and the Caribbean Reality – Considerations for a Regional Electric Vehicle Strategy”. During ninety (90) minutes of interactive dialogue and discussions, global and regional thought‑leaders and practitioners will examine topical issues on electric mobility, examining some of the barriers and enablers for uptake, and present work that is being undertaken, within the CARICOM Energy framework, towards the design and development of a Regional Electric Vehicle Strategy (REVS).
The interactive webinar targets leaders and technical experts from the public sector, business, electric utilities and energy service providers, transport planners and service providers, and academia. The webinar will seek, in-particular, to explore proposals on the electrification of transportation within CARCOM through 3 x 3 model:
- The three (3) building blocks of Policy, Capacity Building, and Financing; and
- The three (3) strategic pillars of Innovation, Intelligence and Electrification.
Register today to learn how the electrification of transportation is revolutionizing key aspects of the energy, transport and related sectors within the Caribbean Community.
