Within the framework of the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), ECREEE in collaboration with the Directorate of Industry of the ECOWAS Commission is hosted the ECOWAS Technical Management Committee (TMC) Meeting, from the 7th -8th December, 2022, in Praia, Cape Verde.
The opening of the meeting on the 7th was attended by the President of the Institute of Quality and Intellectual Property Management of Cape Verde, Representatives of the President of the TMC, the World Bank, ECREEE and the ECOWAS Commission represented by the Director of Industry. The Representative of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy of Cape Verde gave the opening speech.
This meeting brought together the Directors of the National Standards Bodies of ECOWAS Member States to examine and adopt the following documents: (i) Standards on Solar Pico and Solar Home System and Test Methods, (ii) Minimum Requirements for Installation, Inspection of Inverters for Photovoltaic Mini-Grids, (iii) Revised ECOSHAM Document.
This meeting is a follow-up to the ECOWAS Technical Harmonization Committee meeting on norms and standards for electrotechnical products (THC5), which took place in Dakar, Senegal, from the 15th to the 17th of November 2022.
ROGEAP is funded by the World Bank, with co-financing from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and Directorate General of International Cooperation (DGIS) of the Government of the Netherlands. One of the components of this Project focuses on promoting quality assurance standards in the Member countries, to help them develop quality assurance (QA) framework for off-grid solar electricity systems to be used in institutions such as health clinics, schools and other public administrations offices, to ensure the long-term performance of these energy infrastructure.
