The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), the East Africa Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (EACREEE), the International Center on Small Hydropower (ICSHP) and in collaboration with the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, organized Four Days of “Capacity building workshop on Small Hydropower (SHP) standards development”. The training took place at ROCKVIEW HOTEL in Abuja, Nigeria from March 19 to 22, 2024.
This training brings together a little more than sixty participants from the Ministries in charge of Energy, Water, research and technological innovation, Universities and research institutes, the private sector, specialized public institutions and organizations, Electricity Companies as well as Standards Bodies from ECOWAS countries, Central and Eastern Africa.
This training program boosted the capacities of participants, for effective and efficient planning, management and operationalization of SHP based on the technical guidelines. During the training the Standards Bureaus were encouraged to join the International Standards Organization’s Technical Committee (ISO/TC 339) on technical guidelines for SHP development. This training was also the occasion for the different organization to exchange experience in Small hydro projects implementation.
ECREEE was represented at this important workshop by Mr. Guei Kouhie, Program Officer Renewable Energy and Mahmoud N'Daw, Renewable Energy Adviser.
