Clim@ finalist announced: 2 startups from the MENA region to pitch for the final prize

Cairo, Egypt– April 2020: 15 finalists with innovative ideas to protect the climate have been selected for the 2020 clim@ competition from over 200 impressive applications received from 60 countries.

As clim@ outreach partner, RCREEE has supported the competition’s call for application. This year, nearly 25% of applications came from the MENA region. The projects submitted from the region mainly proposed renewable energy solution, energy efficiency solutions, and circular economy solutions. Yet, the greatest share of applications were of resource efficiency projects (waste and water management).

Interestingly, 17% of the candidates were entries owned or registered by females (as the main contact person in the application).

We are very happy for the selection of two finalist from the MENA region who will now pitch for a share of EUR 30.000 prize.

clim@ was initiated by the Green for Growth Fund (GGF) in 2018 and is organized by Finance in Motion on behalf of the GGF and sponsored by the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

RCREEE has supported the competition since its launch in 2018 as outreach partner.
