A delegation from the Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Central Africa (CEREEAC), headquartered in Luanda, Angola, is undertaking a study tour of ECREEE from July 19 to 23, 2023. CEREEAC is a new member of the Global Network of Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC), managed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The objective of the tour is to learn from the best experiences of ECREEE, which is at a more advanced stage of institutional build-up.
CEREEAC's activities were officially launched on March 10, 2023. The Center is a specialized agency of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), comprising eleven member states, whose mission is to remove demand and supply-side barriers to integrated and inclusive markets for sustainable energy products and services in the ECCAS region by promoting economies of scale, equal progress, joint learning and spillover effects between countries.
The ECCAS delegation is led by Mr Désiré Armand Ndemazagoa Backotta, Head of the Energy Department (ECCAS), accompanied by :
- Mr Jean-Pierre Ndoutoum, Head of the Start-up Unit ;
- Mr João Landa, Technical Expert, Ministry of Energy and Water, Angola, and
- Mr. Gentjan Sema, Project Administrator, Energy Systems and Infrastructure Division, Department of Energy, UNIDO, Vienna, Austria.
The delegation was welcomed by CEREEC's Executive Director, Mr Francis Sempore, on Monday June 19, 2023, after which an opening session was held with the staff.
