June 2013, Dii strategy report “Desert Power: Getting Started” project partners organized a high level policy conference during EU Sustainable Energy Week. The event marked the launch of Dii’s strategy report “Desert Power: Getting Started”. The report discusses basic steps needed to develop an integrated, renewables-based power system in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa (EUMENA). The report focuses on energy producing countries in the Dii which include Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria. Notably, RCREEE’s executive director, Dr. Tareq Emtairah participated in the second panel discussion which discussed institutional and long term investment framework for infrastructure scale up.
