PIGGAREP Quarterly Progress Report 1st Quarter 2014

PIGGAREP First Quarter Progress Report - January to March 2014.

The first quarter of 2014 noted the following key achievements:

PIGGAREP • Niue, Nauru, Samoa, Fiji, Tokelau and Vanuatu finished their country activities in 2013 • Solomon Islands completed installation of wind masts on all four sites; and thus completed all PIGGAREP activities in 1st quarter of 2014 • Nauru completed its solar PV training • Tuvalu completed its tariff review; but still awaits implementation of a solar PV project, in cooperation with the EU • Tonga has the first draft of a renewable energy Resource Book ready, for curriculum for grade 1-6 in Tonga • PNG has not had any activity

PIGGAREP+ country activities: • Tonga has advanced with procurement/installation stage of solar pumping systems • Terms of reference for preparatory works published for Palau, Tuvalu, Solomon Islands, The Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI), Samoa, Cook Islands and Kiribati • Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) has not yet started implementation because the project awaited approval in Congress (the project was finally approved by Congress on April 2nd 2014).
